My family loves these BBQ Cauliflower Wings! These are an amazing alternative to traditional wings. The cauliflower florets are coated in crispy panko and smoky-sweet barbecue sauce. These super addicting BBQ Cauliflower Wings are great to enjoy as snacks, side dishes, and appetizers.
Ingredients
1 ¼ c. all-purpose flour
1 large (2 lbs) head of cauliflower, cut into medium-sized florets
½ c. non-dairy milk, unsweetened
¾ c. water, more if needed
1 tsp granulated garlic, divided
1 tsp granulated onion, divided
3 c. panko breadcrumbs
1 ¼ c. barbecue sauce, more if needed
¾ tsp sea salt, divided
How to make BBQ Cauliflower Wings
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 450 degrees F or 230 degrees C. Using parchment paper, line a rimmed baking sheet.
Step 2: Place the breadcrumbs on a large rimmed plate along with half tsp each of garlic and onion. Then, add 1/4 tsp salt. Mix well until combined and set aside.
Step 3: Mix the flour with half tsp each of garlic, onion, and salt in a large bowl until well combined. Add the milk and water. Whisk until you have a thick but still pourable batter. You can add a couple of tbsp of water if the batter ends up too thick.
Step 4: Into the large bowl, add a handful of cauliflower. Toss well to coat. Lift the cauliflower off the mixture, lightly shaking off the excess, then place the cauliflower in the breadcrumbs. Toss gently until the florets are well coated. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space in between each piece of florets.
Step 5: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the cauliflower florets are crisp and golden, flipping the pieces halfway through baking.
Step 6: Take the baking sheet out of the oven and brush each floret with BBQ sauce. Return the baking sheet to the oven and continue baking for an additional 8 to 10 minutes until caramelized.
Step 7: Serve the BBQ Cauliflower Wings immediately with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
