Ingredients:
For the Chopped Steak Patties:
3 tbsp butter, divided
2 lbs. ground sirloin
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 large Egg
1 tsp garlic powder
1/3 c panko breadcrumbs
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
For the Mushroom Gravy:
1 1/2 lbs. button mushrooms, sliced
3 c beef broth
1/4 c all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 c cooking sherry
1 large onion, peeled and chopped
Directions:
1. Add the ground sirloin, Worcestershire sauce, all spices, panko, egg, and salt into a large bowl. Use your clean hands to mix everything.
2. Form 6 even patties out of the meat mixture.
3. Place a pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
4. Add 1 tbsp of butter and allow it to melt.
5. Add the steak patties and cook each side for about 5 minutes or until they turn brown. Remove from the pan onto a clean plate.
6. Cover the patties with aluminium foil.
7. In the same pan, add butter again and allow it to melt.
8. Add the mushroom slice and chopped onion, then saute until soft.
9. Add the thyme and stir until well mixed.
10. Add the flour, then stir and cook for about a minute.
11. Add the sherry and beef broth, then stir until well blended.
12. Simmer the sauce for about 5 minutes or until the texture becomes thick.
13. Put the patties back into the pan and spoon the delicious sauce over until well coated.
14. Serve with mashed potatoes and don’t forget to spoon the delicious on top. Enjoy!
