Melt-in-your-mouth tender pork ribs coated in a mouthwatering barbecue sauce. The Country-style pork ribs are slow cooked, then broiled until perfectly caramelized. This simple recipe guarantees foolproof pork ribs all the time!
Ingredients
1/4 c. apple cider vinegar
3 lbs. country-style pork ribs (bone-in or boneless)
2 to 3 c. barbecue sauce (homemade or store-bought)
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp seasoning salt (homemade or store-bought)
How to make Country Style Pork Ribs in the Oven
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 300 degrees F.
Step 2: On a foil-lined baking sheet, place the ribs and sprinkle with seasoning salt.
Step 3: To the bottom of the baking sheet, add the water and apple cider vinegar. Then, tent with tin foil. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 hours depending on the size of the ribs until fork tender. I suggest checking the ribs after 2-1/2 hours and cooking further if they are not yet tender.
Step 4: Take the ribs out of the oven and adjust the oven rack 6 inches under the broiler, then set it to broil.
Step 5: On a platter, transfer the ribs. At the bottom of the baking sheet, pour the fat and liquid. Place the ribs on the baking sheet and brush one side with barbecue sauce. Broil for about 3 to 5 minutes. Flip and brush the other side with the barbecue sauce and broil for additional 3 to 5 minutes.
Step 6: Do the same process again, double-coating the ribs in the sweet sticky barbecue sauce. Make sure to closely watch the ribs while under the broiler as they can burn quickly.
Step 7: After removing the ribs from the oven, cover them with foil and allow them to rest for about 10 minutes.
Notes:
Make sure not to place the barbecue sauce on the ribs until the very end of cooking or else it will get watery as the ribs steam under the foil.
In the last step when basting the ribs with barbecue ribs, increase the oven temperature. This will help caramelize and thicken the barbecue sauce.
You may need to increase the baking time by 30 to 40 minutes if using larger ribs.
Trim the fat to 1/4-inch thickness if the ribs have a thick layer of fat.
