Super easy to make, delicious, and one of the best Instant Pot recipes you can make! Tender pieces of chicken smothered in an Asian-inspired honey teriyaki sauce. So good, even your fussiest eaters will love this dish!
Ingredients
2 tsp minced garlic
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or 6 chicken thighs)
1/2 c. soy sauce (I use low sodium)
½ c. rice vinegar
½ tsp ground ginger
touch of heat, use ½ tsp
¼-½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes – for a more noticeable
3 tbsp corn starch + 3 tbsp cold water
2 tsp sesame seeds
½ c. water
⅔ c. honey
steamed white rice or fried rice – for serving
diced green onions – for topping
How to make Instant Pot Honey Teriyaki Chicken
Step 1: In a pressure cooker, place the chicken. Combine the soy sauce, water, honey, garlic, rice vinegar, ground ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes until well blended. Then, pour this over the chicken.
Step 2: Put the lid on and seal. Set to cook on “pressure cook” for 20 minutes (if using frozen chicken) or 10 minutes (if using thawed chicken).
Step 3: Once the cooking time is up, let a natural release of pressure until the float valve sinks.
Step 4: Remove any leftover pieces of fat in the pressure cooker using a slotted spoon, then set the pressure cooker to the “soup” setting. In the meantime, shred the chicken.
Step 5: Combine the cornstarch and water. Add this into the sauce once the liquid comes to a boil and stir until thickened. Then, add the sesame seeds and stir well.
Step 6: Turn the pressure cooker off. Return the shredded chicken to the pressure cooker and toss to coat in the sauce.
Step 7: Serve right away over steamed or fried rice garnished with some chopped green onions. Enjoy!
Note:
Add 10 minutes to the cooking time if using thick (thicker than 1 1/2 inches) pieces of frozen chicken. For very thick thawed chicken, pound the pieces to about 1– 1/2 inches thickness before cooking.
