This Orange Chicken is my all-time favorite food! I can’t last a week without eating it! Let me share the recipe with you! I am 100 percent sure that you are going to love it! Feel free to tweak it a bit to your liking. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 Egg
Canola Oil for frying
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/3 c corn starch
2 teaspoons sesame oil
For the Sauce:
3 tablespoons water
1/3 c sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons minced ginger
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh orange zest
1/3 c rice wine vinegar, or dry sherry
1/3 c chicken broth
A pinch of red pepper flakes, optional
2 tbsp fresh orange juice
2 tablespoons corn starch
1 teaspoon canola oil
3 tablespoons soy sauce
For the Garnish:
orange slices
sliced green onions
Directions:
For the Chicken:
1. Place a small deep fryer on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
2. Add 2-inches of canola oil and allow it to become hot.
3. In a bowl, add 3 tbsp of soy sauce, egg, sesame oil, and 1/3 cup of cornstarch. Stir until well blended.
4. Add the chicken into the bowl with the batter, then toss until well coated.
5. Add the chicken into the hot pan, then cook until golden brown.
6. Transfer the fried chicken onto a clean plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
For the Sauce:
1. In a mixing bowl, add 3 tbsp of soy sauce, orange zest, 3 tbsp water, 1/3 cup chicken broth, 2 tbsp cornstarch, and 1/3 cup rice wine vinegar. Stir until well blended.
2. Place a large wok on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
3. Add 1 tsp of canola oil and allow it to become hot.
4. Add the garlic, red pepper flakes, and ginger. Saute until aromatic.
5. Add the sauce, then stir until well blended. Simmer for a few minutes until the texture becomes thick.
6. Add the fried chicken, then toss until well coated with the delicious sauce. Remove from the heat.
7. Sprinkle green onions over each serving.
8. Serve with orange slices on the side. Enjoy!
