My ultimate comfort food! These chicken and dumplings will surely make your day extra special! I have listed all the simple steps so you just have to follow them for they will guide you to perfection. Make sure to read all the notes at the bottom of this page for recommendations. Ingredients:
1 1/2 pound chicken breasts cubed
10.5 ounces can cream of chicken soup
10.5 ounces can cream of celery soup
1 c water
14.5 ounces can chicken broth
2 carrots sliced (about 2 cups after being sliced)
2-3 ribs celery sliced (about 2 cups after being sliced)
1 yellow onion diced
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 c frozen peas optional
16.3 ounces Pillsbury Grand Biscuits 8 biscuit sized can
more thyme and pepper for the top of biscuits
Directions:
1. In a slow cooker, add the carrots, chicken, onions, thyme, celery, and black pepper.
2. Add the cream of celery soup, chicken broth, water, and cream of chicken soup. Stir everything until well combined.
3. Cover the slow cooker and cook for about 4 hours on a high setting or 8 hours on a low setting.
4. Add peas and stir until well mixed.
5. Slice the biscuits into four, then lay the pieces on top of the soup.
6. Sprinkle pepper and thyme over the dumplings.
7. Cover the slow cooker again and cook for another 45 minutes on a high setting.
8. Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
You can add the whole chicken breasts. Just make sure to shred them when the cooking time ends.
Feel free to use 3 cups of rotisserie chicken slices.
You can use raw veggies as well. Just adjust the cooking time.
Do not use frozen meat.
