Ingredients:
For the hamburger
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper (omit for AIP)
1 tablespoon avocado oil
For the gravy
2 tablespoons avocado oil
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 c mushrooms, sliced
1 c beef broth
1 tablespoon coconut aminos
2 teaspoons mustard (omit for AIP)
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper (omit for AIP)
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons arrowroot starch
1 tablespoon chopped parsley, for topping
Directions:
1. Shape into 4 burger patties the ground beef, then season all sides with salt and pepper.
2. Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
3. Add avocado oil and allow it to become hot.
4. Add the patties and cook each side for about 5 minutes or until done. Remove from the skillet onto a clean plate.
5. In the same skillet, add the onions and saute until translucent. This will take about 5 minutes.
6. Add the mushrooms and saute for about 3 minutes or until soft.
7. Add the coconut aminos, mustard, apple cider vinegar, broth, and seasonings. Stir until well mixed.
8. Turn the heat down to low, then add the arrowroot starch. Whisk until well mixed and thick. This will take about 2 minutes.
9. Put the burgers back to the skillet and spoon the gravy over.
10. Garnish each serving with freshly chopped parsley.
11. Serve and enjoy!
