Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter cut into cubes
  • 2 Egg yolks
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Water

Filling

  • 2 cups Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Carrots
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp Dried rosemary

Salt and Black Pepper

Instructions

  • Combine flour and salt. Incorporate the butter until crumbly.
  • Mix egg yolks with water, add to the flour mixture. Knead, wrap in plastic, and chill.
  • Season and brown the ground beef. Cook potatoes, carrots, and onion. Combine with herbs and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Roll out the dough, form circles. Place filling on one half, fold over, seal the edges. Brush with egg wash and bake.

Notes

For optimal freshness, store pasties in the refrigerator and consume within 3 days. To freeze, omit egg wash and reduce baking time. Enjoy with salad, mashed potatoes, English tea, or pickled onions.
