In a large skillet over medium heat, add the sliced sausage and cook until browned and slightly crispy. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir to combine with the onions and garlic. Cover the skillet and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
Return the browned sausage to the skillet. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika (if using). Adjust seasoning to taste.
Serve hot as a main course or side dish.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using a smoked sausage like kielbasa or andouille. To make this dish spicier, add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
