Equipment

  • Blender
  • Margarita Glasses
  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh watermelon chunks seeds removed (approximately half a medium watermelon)
  • 4 oz silver tequila 100% agave recommended
  • 2 oz triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice about 2 medium limes
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar or simple syrup adjust to taste
  • 3 cups ice cubes

For Garnish

  • salt or tajin seasoning for rimming glasses (optional)
  • watermelon wedges for garnish
  • lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Cut approximately half a medium watermelon into 1-inch cubes, removing all seeds. For optimal results, place cubes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for 1-2 hours.
  • Run a lime wedge around the rims of your serving glasses, then dip in salt or tajin seasoning. Chill glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving.
  • In a high-powered blender, combine frozen watermelon chunks, tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar. Add ice gradually while blending until you achieve your desired consistency.
  • Taste your mixture and adjust as needed. If too sweet, add more lime juice; if too tart, incorporate additional agave nectar.
  • Pour the Frozen Watermelon Margarita into your prepared glasses. Garnish with small watermelon wedges and lime slices.

Notes

For a mocktail version, substitute tequila with coconut water and triple sec with orange juice.
Using frozen watermelon reduces the amount of ice needed, creating a more flavorful drink that's less watery.
If you have leftover blended margaritas, store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
