Ingredients

  • 1 lb Lean ground beef
  • 1/2 C Chopped onion
  • 1/4 C Chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 C Ketchup
  • 1/2 C Water
  • 1 Tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 6 Slices Texas toast bread
  • 12 Slices White American cheese

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef, onion, and peppers until browned. Drain fat.
  • Reduce heat. Add ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and garlic powder. Simmer until thickened.
  • Toast the Texas toast until golden. Top with cheese and broil until melted.
  • Add meat mixture, more cheese, and broil to melt. Serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Adjust sweetness and add spice to suit your taste preferences.
