Ingredients

Pie Crust

  • Pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Chocolate Filling

  • Butter
  • cup Granulated sugar
  • cup All-purpose flour
  • cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • cups Milk (2% or whole milk)
  • Egg yolks
  • tsp Vanilla extract

Meringue Topping

  • Egg whites
  • tsp Cream of tartar
  • cup Granulated sugar

Instructions

  • Bake the pie crust according to package instructions and let it cool.
  • Whisk dry ingredients in a saucepan. Add milk, egg yolks, vanilla, and butter. Cook until thickened.
  • Pour the chocolate filling into the pre-baked crust.
  • Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff. Gradually incorporate sugar until glossy.
  • Spread meringue over the filling and bake until golden brown. Chill before serving.

Notes

Store the pie covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Allow it to sit at room temperature before serving for optimal taste.
