Ingredients

Russet Potatoes

  • 5 lb potatoes washed, peeled, thinly sliced

Smoked Sausage

  • 1 1/2 ropes smoked sausage
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

Seasonings

  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz shredded cheese (optional)

Liquids

  • 2 cans evaporated milk (12 oz each)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease an 8 x 13-inch casserole dish.
  • Create a layer of sliced potatoes on the bottom of the casserole dish.
  • Layer the smoked sausage and dot with butter over the potatoes. Sprinkle with flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Continue layering with potatoes, sausage, and butter, ending with a sprinkling of flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour evaporated milk over the layers until the potatoes are moistened.
  • Bake uncovered for at least an hour until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
