Instructions
Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions. Spread the batter into prepped round cake pans and bake until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
While the cakes cool, prepare the vanilla pudding according to package instructions and chill in the refrigerator.
Slice the first cake into chunks and lay them as the first layer in a large punch bowl. Spoon most of the chilled pudding over the cake pieces, smoothing evenly.
Sprinkle a generous layer of crushed pineapple over the pudding, followed by a layer of sliced strawberries and bananas.
Place the remaining cake chunks over the fruit, then spread a layer of Cool Whip over the top, smoothing it into an even layer.
Using a piping bag with a star tip, pipe decorative swirls of Cool Whip on top. Garnish with a generous sprinkling of chopped pecans.
Notes
For a twist, try using other berries like raspberries or blueberries, or add a nuttier aroma with almond extract in the cake mix. For a gluten-sensitive option, use gluten-free cake mix.
