Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Add sugar, softened butter, beaten egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.
Cover the rolls with a clean towel and let them rise for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20 minutes until golden brown.
Brush the tops with melted butter and serve warm.
Notes
For best results, ensure the yeast is fresh and the water temperature is accurate. These rolls freeze well; simply reheat before serving.
