Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Baking Dish
  • Plastic Wrap

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Warm water 110°F-115°F
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Butter softened
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 3 1/2 cups All-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Add sugar, softened butter, beaten egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition until a soft dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.
  • Cover the rolls with a clean towel and let them rise for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, ensure the yeast is fresh and the water temperature is accurate. These rolls freeze well; simply reheat before serving.
