Ingredients:
For the Dough:
4 c all-purpose flour, or more as needed
2 tsp active dry yeast
⅔ c warm water
2 tbsp white sugar
⅔ c warm milk
1 ½ tsp fine salt
6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 large Egg, beaten
For the Sticky Topping:
A pinch of salt
¼ c white sugar
3 tbsp water
½ c packed light brown sugar
6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 c chopped toasted pecans
Sugar Filling:
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¾ c packed light brown sugar
Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, add milk and water. Whisk until well blended.
2. Add yeast and let it rise for about 10 minutes.
3. Add melted butter, sugar, and egg. Whisk until well blended.
4. Add salt and the rest of the flour, then whisk until well incorporated.
5. Sprinkle flour onto a flat surface, then place the dough on it.
6. Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then cover it with plastic wrap and allow it to rise for an hour in a warm area.
7. Prepare the oven and preheat to 190 degrees C or 375 degrees F.
8. Brush with butter on a 9×13-inch metal baking pan.
9. In a mixing bowl, add water, salt, melted butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk until well blended.
10. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
11. Scatter the pecans on top of the batter.
12. In a different bowl, add the cinnamon and brown sugar. Whisk until well blended.
13. Sprinkle flour onto a flat surface, then place the dough on it. Knead to an 18×15-inch rectangle.
14. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture on top of the dough.
15. Roll the dough from end to end, then shape it into a cylinder.
16. Cut the dough into 12 even pieces.
17. Place the buns into the prepared pan and arrange them in three rows.
18. Place them inside the oven and bake for about 35 minutes at 200 degrees F.
19. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool at room temperature.
20. Serve and enjoy!
