Ingredients:
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup milk
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 loaf challah bread, sliced 1-inch thick
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
A pinch of kosher salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 stick of melted butter
Confectioners’ sugar, for serving (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 Eggs
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat it to 190 degrees C or 375 degrees F.
Add brown sugar, melted butter, and maple syrup into a mixing bowl. Whisk until well incorporated.
Transfer the mixture to a large baking dish and spread it evenly. Lay the bread slices over the mixture.
In a separate mixing bowl, add nutmeg, milk, vanilla, eggs, cream, salt, and cinnamon. Stir everything until well incorporated. Transfer the mixture on top of the bread and spread it evenly.
Wrap the baking dish with plastic, then place it in the fridge for an hour to soak the bread.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the Creme Brulee French Toast for 25 minutes or until done.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle sugar on top.
