Candied walnuts are my favorite treat! I love to toss them in a salad, over popcorn, or enjoy them by themselves. This easy method of making candied walnuts changed my life! The simple ingredients go into the pan at once and are cooked until the walnuts are glossy and start to clump together. Let this set by pouring the whole thing onto a lined baking sheet and spreading them evenly. Once ready, break the candied walnuts apart, and viola, you have yourself caramelized, candied walnuts!
This method of making candied walnuts makes life easier. The old method I know requires quite a lot of work. But who needs extra steps if you can make this treat in a single blow? This recipe seriously takes only five minutes to make on the stove and additional five minutes to let the candied walnuts cool. The best part is you can easily double or triple the recipe if desired! Just remember one thing, you have to move as quickly as possible from the time the nuts are coated, or you’ll have inseparable delicious candied walnuts!
INGREDIENTS
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 c. walnuts
3 tbsp light brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1/4 tsp salt
How to make 5-Minute Candied Walnuts
Step 1: Using parchment paper, line a baking sheet and set aside.
Step 2: Place the walnuts in a large non-stick skillet. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, water, and butter. If using, add the cinnamon as well.
Step 3: Place the skillet on high heat and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring often, until all the moisture has evaporated and the walnuts are glossy and begin to clump together.
Step 4: Add the salt and stir. Into the prepared baking sheet, immediately transfer the nuts, spreading them out into a single layer. Allow the nuts to cool.
Step 5: Break the candied walnuts apart once set. Enjoy!
