This Praline Crunch is quite addicting. There’s a perfect balance of sugar and salt in each morsel. Ingredients include Crispix, pecans, brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, vanilla extract, and baking soda. It’s something you can prepare in advance and keep in an airtight container. This praline crunch is fabulous as a handmade party favor or present!
Making this snack mix requires small work. There’s plenty to go around because this recipe yields a huge amount. Make it ahead of time and store it in an airtight jar for later use. I’m preparing a big batch to take to my family’s Thanksgiving dinner. This snack is also ideal for munching on while watching the game. If you’re looking for a homemade present for the holidays, this is perfect.
Ingredients
2 c. pecan halves (I use salted)
8 c. Crispix cereal
½ c. brown sugar, packed
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ c. corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ c. butter
HOW TO MAKE PRALINE CRUNCH
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat it to 250 degrees F.
Step 2: In a large bowl, mix the cereal and pecans.
Step 3: Whisk the brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring often. Then, take the pan off the heat. While off the heat, stir in the vanilla and baking soda.
Step 4: Pour the mixture over the cereal mixture, tossing well until the cereal and pecans are evenly coated.
Step 5: Into a 9 x 13-inch pan, pour the cereal mixture. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, stirring once every 20 minutes.
Step 6: Remove from the oven when done and allow to cool. Once cooled, pour the praline onto wax or parchment paper, then break it into pieces.
Note:
Since the mixture will bubble up when adding the baking soda, make sure to use a large saucepan when making the brown sugar/corn syrup mixture.
