These heavenly rolls are superb! You need to try this recipe; you are so in for a treat! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
SAUCE:
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups water
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
DOUGH:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk
FILLING:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 cups shredded, peeled granny smith apples (3-4 medium)
Directions:
Step 1: Place a large saucepan on the stove, then add water, margarine, 2 cups of sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Stir until well mixed.
Step 2: Turn the heat to medium and allow the mixture to boil for about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Step 3: In the bowl of a stand mixer, add baking powder, flour, and salt. Beat until well mixed.
Step 4: Slice the shortening into pea-size pieces.
Step 5: Create and small well in the middle, then add milk. Stir until well mixed.
Step 6: Sprinkle flour on a flat surface, then place the dough on it. Knead until the texture becomes smooth.
Step 7: Roll the dough to about a 12×10-inch rectangular shape.
Step 8: Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, add cinnamon and sugar. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 9: Sprinkle apples and sugar mixture on top of the dough.
Step 10: Roll into a spiral way the dough beginning from the long side. Seal the seam.
Step 11: Slice the rolled dough into twelve pieces.
Step 12: Spread the sauce on top of the dumplings.
Step 13: Place them inside the and bake for 50 minutes at 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C.
Step 14: Serve warm and enjoy!
