This is a classic dish with sauteed beef and fresh broccoli clothed in a savory sauce. A healthy weeknight meal that you can easily make in a cinch!
INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp + 1 tsp vegetable oil, divided use
1 1/4 pounds flank steak thinly sliced
1 tsp minced garlic
2 c. broccoli florets
2 tsp minced fresh ginger
1/4 c. oyster sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp cornstarch
1/4 c. beef broth or water
salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp toasted sesame oil
1 tsp soy sauce
How to make Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry
Step 1: In a large frying pan, heat 1 tsp of oil on medium heat. Then, add the broccoli and cook for about 4 minutes until tender. Next, add the ginger along with the garlic. Continue to cook for another 30 seconds. On a plate, transfer the broccoli when done and cover.
Step 2: Using a paper towel, wipe the pan clean, then adjust the heat to high. To the pan, add the rest of the oil.
Step 3: Season the pieces of steak with salt and pepper. In a single layer, add the steak to the pan (in batches) and sear for about 3 to 4 minutes per side until browned and completely cooked.
Step 4: Return the broccoli mixture to the pan and cook for additional 2 minutes until warmed through.
Step 5: Place the oyster sauce, beef broth, sugar, sesame oil, and soy sauce in a bowl. Mix well until combined.
Step 6: Whisk the cornstarch and 1 tbsp cold water in a small bowl until blended.
Step 7: Over the beef and vegetables, pour the oyster sauce mixture. Cook for another 30 seconds before adding the cornstarch. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for a minute more or until the sauce has begun to thicken.
Step 8: Serve the Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry right away with rice. Enjoy!
