I am so excited to share this recipe with you today because it is something very simple yet very delicious! This Chicken Souvlaki is total comfort food for the whole family! In less than 30 minutes, this is ready for serving! Marinated for a couple of minutes, but I highly suggest marinating them overnight for more infused flavor. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1/4 c Lemon (juice, about 1 large lemon’s juice)
3 tablespoons Oregano (fresh leaves or 1.5 tablespoons dried, or mix half-half)
3 tablespoons Olive Oil
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper (freshly cracked)
1.5 pounds of Chicken (3-4 boneless breast or 12-14 chicken tenders)
Grilled Pita, for serving (optional)
1 tablespoon Garlic (about 4-5 garlic cloves, fresh minced)
1/2 teaspoon Chili Flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Parsley (fresh leaves, chopped)
Oil Spray
1/2 teaspoon Cumin Powder
Pita Bread
Directions:
For the Marinade:
Add all the ingredients for the marinade aside from the chicken into a large mixing bowl. Stir everything until well blended.
Cut the chicken breast into small slices, then put them into the bowl with marinade. Toss until fully coated.
Cover the bowl, then place it in the fridge and marinate the chicken pieces for about 20 to 30 minutes or overnight.
To Grill:
Prepare the grill and preheat it.
Thread the chicken pieces with the skewers.
Place them over the preheated grill and cook for a few minutes until both sides of the chicken turn brown.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
If you are using wooden skewers, make sure to soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling the chicken. They will burn fast if you do not soak them first. On the other hand, you can use metal skewers. You don’t need to soak them in water.
