The delicious taste of this Chinese Chili Garlic Shrimp is more than enough to make your dining experience extra special! This is shrimp coated with an incredible sauce. Always serve this over rice. Thank me later. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 and 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 pound (450 g) raw shrimp, peeled & deveined
1 tsp Shaoxing wine (Optional)
1/2 tsp salt
Sauce:
2 tsp light soy sauce (or soy sauce)
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 c chili garlic sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Stir Fry:
1 tbsp ginger, minced
4 1/2 tbsp peanut oil (or vegetable oil)
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, add Shaoxing wine, shrimp, and salt. Toss the shrimp until well coated.
In another mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the sauce. (Soy sauce, brown sugar, and chili garlic sauce) Stir everything until well blended making sure that the sugar has dissolved completely.
Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Add 4 tbsp of oil and allow it to become hot.
Sprinkle flour and cornstarch over the shrimp, then toss until well coated.
Add the shrimp into the hot skillet, then cook all sides for about 3 minutes. Cook the shrimp in two batches to prevent overcrowding. Transfer them onto a clean plate.
In the same empty skillet, add 1/2 tbsp of oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the ginger and sauté for a minute or until aromatic.
Add the sauce into the skillet, then scrape the bottom to get the browned bits. Stir everything until well blended. Simmer the mixture for about 30 seconds. Remove from the heat.
Put the shrimp back into the skillet with the sauce, then toss until well-coated.
Serve and enjoy!
