Sugar Cookie Bars:
1/2 c unsalted butter softened to room temperature
4 ounces cream cheese
1 c white sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract optional
2 large Eggs
2 1/4 c all-purpose flour
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c unsalted butter
2 ounces cream cheese
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 – 3 c powdered sugar
For the Sugar Cookie Bars:
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Line with aluminium foil and apply cooking spray a 9×13-inch baking pan.
Step 3: Add the cream cheese, sugar, and butter into a large mixing bowl. Beat until well blended.
Step 4: Add the almond extract, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined.
Step 5: In another mixing bowl, add cornstarch, baking powder, flour, and salt. Whisk until sifted.
Step 6: Gradually transfer the flour mixture into the butter mixture and whisk continuously.
Step 7: Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly on the bottom.
Step 8: Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about 22 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean after inserting it in the middle.
Step 9: Remove from the oven and let it sit at room temperature to cool.
To Make the Frosting:
Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, add the butter and cream cheese. Beat until well blended.
Step 2: Add the vanilla extract and salt. Beat until well mixed.
Step 3: Add the powdered sugar and beat until thick.
Step 4: Spread the frosting over the cooled bars and sprinkle holiday sprinkles on top.
Step 5: Serve and enjoy!
