INGREDIENTS
2 c. heavy cream
1 c. sugar
1 pie shell, store-bought or homemade
1 c. half-and-half
1/3 c. all-purpose flour
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg, optional
How to Make Classic Sugar Cream Pie
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F. In a standard pie dish, place pie dough.
Step 2: In a bowl, place the sugar, flour, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well until combined. Add the heavy cream and mix again until completely blended.
Step 3: Mix the half-and-half, egg yolks, and vanilla extract in another bowl. Add the egg yolk, gently stirring until combined.
Step 4: Into the pie crust, pour the pie filling. Crimp the edges of the pie dough, then brush the top with the melted butter. Across the pie, sprinkle the cinnamon.
Step 5: Place the pie dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 60 to 70 minutes or until the middle of the pie is set, but still jiggles a little when shaken. Note that the pie filling will boil after an hour of baking. Let it bubble for about 10 minutes before taking the pie out of the oven.
Step 6: Before slicing, allow the pie to cool completely. Serve and enjoy!
