PREP TIME: 5 mins | COOK TIME: 10 mins | TOTAL TIME: 15 mins | SERVINGS: 8 people (⅓ c. Alfredo sauce each)
My family’s number one favorite – is homemade cream cheese Alfredo sauce. This is incredibly easy to make using just a couple of simple ingredients. This is ready in less than fifteen minutes. Enjoy this delightful sauce over your favorite pasta noodles.
INGREDIENTS
1 c. heavy whipping cream
1 block (8 ounces) of cream cheese, cut into chunks
½ c. (1 stick) butter
1 ½ tsp garlic powder
1 c. chicken broth
½ tsp salt – I use kosher salt
¼ tsp ground black pepper
8 ounces wedge parmesan cheese, shredded
HOW TO MAKE CREAM CHEESE ALFREDO SAUCE
Step 1: In a skillet pan or saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
Step 2: Add the chunked cream cheese and garlic powder to the melted butter. Stir using a whisk until mixed and mostly smooth.
Step 3: Then, slowly add the whipping cream along with the chicken broth, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a low boil. Adjust the heat to medium-low once the mixture is boiling. Next, add the Parmesan cheese. To taste, season with salt and pepper. Allow everything to simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes or until the mixture has slightly thickened, stirring often.
Step 4: Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes to thicken it up.
Step 5: Serve the cream cheese Alfredo sauce over your favorite pasta noodles. Or toss the noodles into the sauce to coat. Enjoy!
NOTES:
To make it easier to add both liquids into the saucepan at the same time, I whisk the chicken broth and heavy cream in a 4-cup Pyrex glass measuring cup.
Before serving, allow the Alfredo sauce to sit (heat off) for a couple of minutes to thicken it up.
In this recipe, I used salted butter. Add more salt if using unsalted butter. If you opt to use table salt, you’ll want to use closer to 1/4 tsp.
If desired, you can use fresh garlic cloves or garlic paste in place of garlic powder.
I do not recommend substituting Parmesan Cheese with pre-shredded Parmesan cheese or the grated stuff in the can.
