Nothing beats an Easy Homemade Chili! This recipe is an old one that I got from my grandma way back. This chili captures the hearts of everyone that eats it! This recipe is surely a must-try. I hope you all love it!
Ingredients:
3 tbsp chili powder
4 c tomato juice
1 large onion, diced
1 tsp ground cumin
14.5 oz. can petite diced tomatoes, undrained
1 tbsp packed brown sugar
1 lb. pork sausage
½ tsp pepper
16 oz. Can kidney beans, be undrained
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp paprika
Shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)
1/4 tsp cayenne (or more if you want it spicier)
Sour cream (optional)
1 c ketchup
2 15-oz. cans of pinto beans, undrained
2 lbs. lean ground beef
1/4 c red wine vinegar
¾ tsp garlic salt
Directions:
Place a large soup pot on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high. Add olive oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the onion into the pot, then sauté for a few minutes until translucent.
Add the sausage and ground beef, then cook for a few minutes until crumbly and brown. Remove any accumulated grease.
Add beans, tomato juice, paprika, vinegar, cumin, tomato slices, ketchup, brown sugar, cayenne, garlic, chili powder, pepper, and salt. Stir until well incorporated and allow the mixture to boil.
Turn the heat down to medium-low, then simmer for about 1 to 3 hours. Stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking.
Top each serving with shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream.
Serve right away with biscuits, cornbread, or green salad. Enjoy!
Notes:
You can omit the meat completely and just add more beans instead.
Place any leftovers in an airtight container, then put them in the freezer. They can last up to 3 months.
You can cook this in a slow cooker. It will take about 5 to 7 hours on a low setting.
