Ingredients:
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 small green bell pepper, diced
1 tbsp tomato paste
1-pound lean ground beef
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
2 tsp yellow mustard
1 small sweet onion, diced
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c ketchup
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/3 c water
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
To Serve:
Toasted buns
Directions:
1. Place a large nonstick skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
2. Add oil and allow it to become hot.
3. Add the ground beef, bell pepper, and onion. Stir and cook for a few minutes until crumbly, brown, and soft.
4. Add the garlic and sauté until aromatic. Discard excess fat.
5. Add the tomato paste, then stir and cook for about a minute to remove the raw taste.
6. Add water, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and mustard. Stir until well blended.
7. Simmer everything for about 10 minutes or until the texture becomes thick.
8. Remove the skillet from the stove, then spoon over toasted buns.
9. Serve and enjoy!
