HOW TO MAKE GRANDMA’S PORK CHOPS IN MUSHROOM GRAVY
Step 1: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Then, add the garlic and saute until aromatic.
Step 2: In a medium-sized bowl, place the pork chops and season with salt and pepper. In the skillet, add the chops and sear for about 3 minutes per side until brown. In a baking pan, transfer the chops.
Step 3: In the same skillet, add the mushrooms. Pour in the sherry and beef broth. Stir well, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits. Let the liquid boil, then pour this on top of the pork chops. Cover with the lid or aluminum foil.
Step 4: Place in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove the cover and continue baking for 15 minutes more. Remove from the oven when done, and transfer the chops to a serving platter.
Step 5: In a pan, bring the pork chop juices to a boil. In the meantime, combine the cornstarch and water. Stir this into the pan and cook for another 2 minutes until the mixture has thickened. Over the chops, spoon the sauce.
Step 6: Serve the pork chops in mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes or rice alongside a simple salad or roasted green beans right away. Enjoy!
