One of my most requested recipes. This Grandma’s secret ingredient chicken salad recipe guarantees a creamy chicken salad loaded with fresh flavors.
To make this delicious chicken salad, all you need are just simple pantry ingredients. And the secret ingredient? Cool Whip! It sounds crazy, but it works! No wonder why everyone is raving about this chicken salad.
This chicken salad is a must-try and most definitely a keeper. This has loads of tender cooked chicken, crisp diced apples, fresh celery, and crunchy pecans all stirred in a creamy and delightful mixture of slightly tangy sour cream, rich mayo, and cool whip. I assure you, the addition of cool whip makes this salad super moist with creamy. If you are worried that cool whip will make this salad extra sweet. Don’t be. I am not a not fan of sweet flavors, so I guarantee that this salad is just perfect!
Did I mention that this recipe is also very versatile? You are welcome to switch up the flavors to suit your taste. You can use halved grapes if that’s what you have available. Toasted almonds are also great to use instead of pecans. You can even throw in some onions if you’d like.
