Ingredients:
Meatloaf:
2 cloves garlic (minced)
2 lbs. ground beef
1 medium-sized onion (diced)
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp kosher salt
1 c milk
1 tsp thyme
1 c panko bread crumbs
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 large Egg
Topping:
1 tbsp spicy brown mustard
½ c ketchup
1 tbsp brown sugar
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Cover the inside of a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place a pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Add butter and allow it to melt.
Add the onions into the hot skillet, then sauté for a few minutes until a bit caramelized. Add the garlic and sauté for about a minute or until aromatic.
Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool.
Add egg, ground beef, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, milk, bread crumbs, onion, salt, and thyme into a large bowl. Mix with your hands.
Transfer the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a meatloaf. Make a crisscross pattern over the meatloaf.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meatloaf for about 40 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, add mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar. Stir everything until well blended. Brush the meat with the mixture.
Bake the meatloaf for additional 30 minutes.
Remove the meatloaf from the oven and allow it to rest at room temperature for a couple of minutes.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Note:
I recommend using a meat thermometer to check the temperature of the meatloaf.
