This will be the best dish to go with rice, I’m telling you! The rich flavours in this Green Pepper Steak are superb! Try it now. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 lb sirloin or round steak, sliced thin against the grain
¼ c soy sauce divided
1 tbsp granulated sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 c low-sodium beef broth
4 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
2 large bell peppers, cubed (red, green, or both)
1 large onion, sliced into wedges
1 tsp fresh ground black pepper
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced or grated
¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
2 large tomatoes, cubed (or several small)
Cooked rice for serving
Soy sauce for serving

Directions:

Step 1: In a mixing bowl, add the sliced steak, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and sugar. Toss until the steak is well coated. Place it inside the fridge to marinate for 30 minutes to 4 hours.

Step 2: Meanwhile, in a small mixing bowl, add the cornstarch, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and beef broth. Whisk until well mixed.

Step 3: Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.

Step 4: Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and allow it to become hot.

Step 5: Add 1/2 of the beef and cook until brown. Flip and cook the other side for another 2 minutes.

Step 6: Remove the steak from the skillet to a clean plate. Repeat the process to the rest of the beef.

Step 7: Add 1 tablespoon of oil into the same skillet and allow it to become hot.

Step 8: Add the onions, bell pepper, and black pepper. Sauté for 5 minutes or until translucent.

Step 9: Turn the heat down to medium, then add the ginger, garlic, and crushed pepper flakes. Sauté for another minute or until aromatic.

Step 10: Put the beef back to the skillet and cook for another 3 minutes or until the sauce becomes thick.

Step 11: Add the tomatoes and stir until well mixed.

Step 12: Remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 13: Sprinkle parsley and black pepper on top.

Step 14: Serve over rice and enjoy!
