Thanksgiving or pretty much any time of the year, this turkey recipe will still be awesome! Oh, man, this recipe is a must-try! Ingredients:
Turkey 14 pounds
Brine Ingredients:
4 tablespoons of salt
1 Quart 4 c water
1 lemon quartered
1 bay leaf
1 spring fresh thyme
Herb Butter:
1/2 cube softened butter (4 tablespoons Butter)
1 c chopped parsley
1 tsp salt
Combine all ingredients and mix well
Aromatics:
1 red apple sliced
1 onion quartered
1 tsp or 1 stick of cinnamon
2 sprigs rosemary
6 sage leaves
1.5 c Ginger ale (apple juice, seltzer water, or even water will all work as well)
Directions:
Step 1: Defrost the turkey.
Step 2: Brine the turkey for at least 8 hours.
Step 3: Spread the herb butter ingredients all over the turkey, then put it onto the roasting pan.
Step 4: Pry the skin of the turkey from the neck to the back.
Step 5: Brush herb butter onto the pried area.
Step 6: Put the aromatics inside the turkey.
Step 7: Place the turkey inside the oven and roast at 250 degrees C or 500 degrees F for about 30 minutes.
Step 8: Reduce the heat to about 350 degrees F and roast for a few more minutes.
Step 9: Remove the turkey from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.
Step 10: Serve and enjoy!
