Simple, delicious, and easy! These three words best describe my experience with this sausage gravy recipe! It has a very basic set of ingredients. Ready in less than 20 minutes, you have got to give this one a try! Serve this with biscuits, toast, or English muffins, and you have yourself a meal to remember. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
½ tsp ground black pepper
¼ tsp garlic powder
1 lb. bulk pork sausage (ground breakfast sausage)
1/3 c all-purpose flour
3 ½ c whole milk
½ tsp salt
1 tsp dried thyme
Directions:
Place a large pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Add the sausage, then cook for a few minutes until crumbly and brown.
Add thyme, salt, garlic powder, pepper, and flour. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes.
Add about 3 cups of milk, then stir until well blended. Scrape the bottom of the skillet to get the browned bits. Stir everything until well blended. Add more milk if the texture of the sauce is too thick.
Remove the pan from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes at room temperature.
Serve with biscuits, toast, or English muffins. Enjoy!
Notes:
Place any leftovers in an airtight container, then put them in the fridge. They can last for a few days. Reheat for a few minutes before serving again. Add more milk if the texture gets too thick. Taste and add more seasonings as well, according to your preference.
I do not recommend freezing this.
Feel free to use ground turkey sausage for this recipe if you like.
I suggest using fresh biscuits when serving this gravy sauce for the best experience.
