I love this Keto Southern Fried Cabbage with Bacon! This pairs well with just about anything. You can serve this with your favorite protein. You can even make this fried cabbage ahead as it reheats beautifully. Store this in the fridge for up to 4 – 5 days and reheat in the microwave or hot skillet before serving.
INGREDIENTS
4 cloves Garlic (minced)
8 slices Bacon
1 large Sweet onion (sliced into thin half-moons)
1/2 teaspoon Paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons Sea salt (to taste)
1/4 teaspoon Black pepper (to taste)
1 large head of Cabbage (shredded – 20 c. shredded)
HOW TO MAKE KETO SOUTHERN FRIED CABBAGE WITH BACON
Step 1: Onto a large, cold saute pan, place the bacon in a single layer. Cook for about 10 minutes over medium heat, flipping halfway, until the bacon is browned. If needed, you can cook the bacon in batches. Set the bacon aside when done, leaving the bacon grease in the pan.
Step 2: In the same pan with the bacon grease, add the onion. Saute for about 10 minutes, uncovered, until browned.
Step 3: In the middle of the pan, make a well. In the center, add the minced garlic and saute for about 1 minute until aromatic. Then, stir the garlic and onions.
Step 4: To the pan, add the cabbage. Season with salt, paprika, and pepper. Cover with a lid and continue to cook for another 15 to 25 minutes or until the cabbage is tender. You can add the cabbage in batches if it cannot fit into the pan. Slightly wilt down the cabbage before adding the remaining cabbage.
Step 5: In the meantime, crumble or chop the bacon. Add the bacon once the cabbage is done.
