Brownies and coffee all at the same time! I really can’t give you any reason why you should not give this a try. I loved every bite of this awesome cake. The moist texture and the sweet taste will surely make your day!
½ cup shortening
½ cup butter
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups white sugar
4 teaspoons instant coffee granules, or more to taste
1 tablespoon hot water
4 large eggs large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup butter softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
1 ½ tablespoons milk
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Apply cooking spray in a 9×13-inch baking pan.
Step 3: Place a small saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to low. Add in 1/2 cup of butter and shortening. Allow the two ingredients to melt. Transfer the mixture into a medium mixing bowl. Add in cocoa and sugar and stir until well blended.
Step 4: In a small mixing bowl, add in the 4 teaspoons of coffee. Pour in hot water and stir until the coffee is dissolved. Transfer the dissolved coffee into the cocoa mixture.
Step 5: Add in eggs gradually and beat until well mixed. Add in 2 teaspoon vanilla extract, flour, and salt. Stir until well mixed. Transfer the batter into the greased baking pan.
Step 6: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean after inserting it in the middle. Remove from the oven and let it sit on a wire rack to cool at room temperature.
Step 7: In a medium mixing bowl, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1/2 cup melted cutter. Beat until well blended. Add in confectioners’ sugar and whisk until well mixed.
Step 8: In a small bowl, add in the coffee and milk. Stir until the coffee is dissolved completely. Transfer the mixture into the frosting.
Step 9: Use an electric mixer to beat for 3 to 5 minutes or until the texture becomes fluffy.
Step 10: Spread the frosting over the brownies.
Step 11: Serve and enjoy!
