If you are a huge fan of sandwiches, then you have got to give this one a try! This Monte Cristo Sandwich is amazingly delicious and very simple to make! In just 20 minutes, you can have something great to serve your loved ones. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup milk
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
4 slices turkey
4 slices of Swiss cheese
4 Eggs
6 slices of sturdy white bread
4 slices ham
4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons powdered sugar optional
maple syrup, optional
strawberry jam optional
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Put the bread onto a flat surface, then slice off the crust.
2. Add mayonnaise and mustard over two bread slices, then spread it evenly.
3. Add cheese and 2 slices of ham over each of the two bread slices.
4. Add another bread over the ham to make a sandwich.
5. Add 2 slices of turkey and a slice of cheese over the top.
6. Top each with the remaining bread slices.
7. Lay the sandwich on the bottom of the frying pan and press it gently.
8. Add eggs, pepper, salt, and milk into a mixing bowl. Beat until well blended.
9. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture to coat.
10. Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to low.
11. Add butter and allow it to melt.
12. Add the sandwich into the hot skillet, then cook each side for about 4 minutes or until the cheese has melted completely and the bread turns golden brown.
13. Transfer the sandwich onto a clean plate. (Sprinkle powdered sugar on top if you like.)
14. Serve right away with maple syrup or strawberry jam. Enjoy!
