This toasted pecan chicken skillet is my newest favorite chicken dish! The flavor is outstanding! To make this dish, all you need are just a few simple ingredients that you might already have in your pantry. The toasted pecans are the star of this dish. It gives this dish depth of flavor. This chicken dish also has a touch of sweetness because of the orange marmalade and a slight kick, thanks to the Dijon mustard. Overall, the combination of the ingredients makes this dish super amazing! Boneless, skinless chicken breasts smothered in a perfectly rich sauce – this toasted pecan chicken skillet is addicting!
INGREDIENTS
3 tbsp unsalted butter or extra-virgin olive oil
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded to even thinness
3/4 c. toasted pecans, roughly chopped
2 tbsp orange marmalade
1 1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
1 tsp Italian seasoning
kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp onion powder
How to make Pecan Chicken
Step 1: With salt and pepper, generously season the chicken and set aside.
Step 2: In a large pan or skillet, heat the butter or olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the chicken to the pan/skillet and cook until all sides are browned. To a plate, transfer the chicken and set aside.
Step 3: Adjust the heat to medium. Then add the heavy whipping cream to the same pan/skillet along with the orange marmalade, mustard, Italian seasoning, garlic and onion powders, and salt and pepper. Next, stir in the toasted pecans.
Step 4: Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes, stirring often. Place the chicken back into the pan/skillet and continue to cook for additional 6 to 8 minutes or until the chicken is completely cooked.
Step 5: Take the pan/skillet off the heat and serve the pecan chicken with rice or spinach. Enjoy!
