Ingredients:
2 c semisweet chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 c unsalted butter, softened
10 oz. soft caramels, unwrapped
2 large Eggs
2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp flaked sea salt
1 c packed light brown sugar
1/2 c granulated sugar
Directions:
1. Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
2. Line with aluminium foil a 9×13-inch baking dish, then apply cooking spray to it.
3. Add the sugars and softened butter into the bowl of an electric mixer. Beat for 2 minutes or until smooth.
4. Add baking soda, eggs, salt, and vanilla. Beat again until well blended.
5. Reduce the speed to low, then add flour and beat until well mixed.
6. Add the chocolate chips and stir until just incorporated.
7. Add 1/2 of the cookie dough to the prepared baking dish and press it to the bottom.
8. Place a medium saucepot on the stove and turn the heat to medium-low.
9. Add the unwrapped caramels and sweetened condensed milk. Stir and cook until melted completely.
10. Pour the filling over the cookie dough and spread it evenly.
11. Add the rest of the cookie dough on top of the caramel filling.
12. Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until done.
13. Remove from the oven, then sprinkle sea salt flakes on top. Allow the bars to cool.
14. Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
Place any leftovers in an airtight container, then let them sit at room temperature. They can last up to 3 days or 1 month in the freezer.
