These smothered green beans are one of the most requested at home. Incredibly easy to make using just a couple of simple ingredients and ready in a snap. This is also amazing for potlucks. Smothered green beans are made with canned green beans that have been cooked in bacon and brown sugar, butter, soy sauce, and garlic mixture.
Recipes like this are a must and a keeper! It’s simple and could be thrown away in a couple of minutes. Leftovers of these smothered green beans are also great to enjoy for several days, and they still taste awesome! So good even your picky eaters will love this!
I have shared the recipe for these smothered green beans with friends and colleagues. They all love everything about this dish. And, of course, anything with bacon is a must! I have also brought this casserole to so many potlucks, and everybody gets seconds! These smothered green beans pair well with just about anything! But I especially love this with grilled chicken and pork chops.
⅔ c. brown sugar
5 (15-ounce) cans of green beans, drained
1 pound bacon
¼ c. butter, melted
1½ teaspoons garlic powder
¼ c. low-sodium soy sauce
HOW TO MAKE SMOTHERED GREEN BEANS
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: In an ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan, pour the drained green beans.
Step 3: Cook the bacon in a large skillet until almost done and not too crispy. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel to drain. Once cool enough to handle, chop the bacon and sprinkle over the green beans.
Step 4: Combine the brown sugar, melted butter, soy sauce, and garlic powder until well-mixed. Pout this on top of the green beans.
Step 5: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 40 minutes, uncovered.
