This recipe has always been a part of my family since I was a little kid. I remember my grandma used to make this all the time! I learned a lot from her including this Southern Fried Cabbage! I am so grateful to her for this because now, I get to share it with you as well! How awesome is that? I have listed all the ingredients and ingredients so all you have to do is to follow them step by step and you are good to go! Feel free to add more ingredients to this very simple recipe if you wish. I am sure that you can do a lot to take this to the next level! For a spicy version, try adding chilli powder. I highly recommend you do so. Just do it and thank me later! Serve this with rice, and you have yourself a meal to remember! Okay, enough with the long introduction. Ingredients:
8 slices thick-cut bacon diced
1 yellow onion {I like Vidalia} diced
1 large head of cabbage roughly chopped
salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons butter optional
Directions:
1. Place a large pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
2. Add the bacon slices and cook until they become crispy. Leave the bacon grease in the pan.
3. Add the onions and sauté until translucent. This usually takes about 5 minutes.
4. Add the cabbage, then stir and cook for a few minutes until soft.
5. Add more butter if you prefer.
6. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.
7. Serve and enjoy!
