Throw together the classic stuffed shells in your Instant Pot and surprise your loved ones with the best dinner. In this recipe, pre-cooking the pasta is no anymore required, and this takes just 1 hour or less to make!
Ingredients
1 tsp garlic powder
1 pound lean ground beef
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
4 c. mozzarella cheese, shredded, divided (about 1 pound)
15 ounces of ricotta cheese
1 egg
1/2 c parmesan cheese
8 ounces jumbo pasta shells (conchiglioni pasta)
24 ounces pasta sauce
2 c. water
1 tsp salt
How to Make Stuffed Shells with Meat
Step 1: In saute mode, set the Instant Pot. Add the ground beef, salt, and seasonings to the Instant Pot once the display reads “HOT”. Cook for 10 minutes until the meat is brown, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Step 2: In the meantime, prepare the cheese filling. Place the ricotta cheese, egg, parmesan cheese, and 3 cups of mozzarella cheese in a medium bowl. Mix well until combined. Then, transfer the mixture to a piping bag with a round tip. You can also use a ziplock bag and just snip off 1 corner.
Step 3: With the cheese mixture, fill the pasta shells.
Step 4: If needed, drain the browned meat before evenly spreading it in the bottom of the pan. Add a splash of water (about 1/4 c.) to the pan and deglaze.
Step 5: Over the meat, layer the filled pasta shell. On top, pour water and pasta sauce. DO NOT STIR. Cover with the lid and seal the valve. Set to cook for 8 minutes on high (Pressure Cook/Manual).
Step 6: Once the time is up, turn the valve to venting to do a quick release of pressure, then very carefully open the lid.
Step 7: On top, sprinkle the rest of the 1 cup of mozzarella. Replace the lid and allow it to sit for about 3 minutes.
Step 8: Then, open the lid and gently stir before serving.
