The Most Amazing Lasagna Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb sweet Italian sausage
1 lb lean ground beef
1 large white onion diced
5 cloves garlic minced
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
2 (6 oz) cans tomato paste
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1/2 c white wine
2 tbsp white sugar
1/2 c chopped fresh basil
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 tsp ground oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 c chopped fresh parsley
1 lb lasagna noodles
30 oz ricotta cheese
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1 large Egg
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1 lb thinly sliced mozzarella cheese about 24 slices
1 c freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:

Step 1: Place a large pot on the stove and turn the heat to medium.

Step 2: Add in the ground beef and ground sausage, then use a wooden spoon to crumble them.

Step 3: Add in the garlic and onion. Cook until aromatic and brown.

Step 4: Add in the oregano, sugar, fresh basil, parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.

Step 5: Add in the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, wine, and tomato sauce.

Step 6: Stir and adjust the heat down to low and simmer for 1 to 4 hours. Make sure to stir from time to time.

Step 7: Submerge the lasagna noodles in a pan with hot water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Step 8: In a large mixing bowl, add in the egg, ricotta cheese, parsley, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until well mixed.

Step 9: Place the egg-cheese mixture inside the to chill.

Step 10: Prepare the oven and preheat to 190 degrees C or 375 degrees F.

Step 11: Apply cooking spray in a 9×13-inch baking pan.

Step 12: Add 1 cup of the meat sauce on the bottom of the greased pan and spread it evenly.

Step 13: Top it with 4 slices of lasagna noodles.

Step 14: Spread 1/3 of ricotta cheese mixture and ¼ mozzarella cheese slices on top of the noodles.

Step 15: Spread 1 ½ cups of meat sauce and ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese on top.

Step 16: Repeat the procedure until everything is arranged in layers.

Step 17: Cover the baking pan with foil and place it inside the preheated oven. Bake for about 25 minutes.

Step 18: Remove the cover and bake for another 25 minutes or until the cheese has melted completely.

Step 19: Remove from the oven.

Step 20: Serve and enjoy!
