I’ve tasted a lot of Tuna Melt before, but this one will always be my favorite! It’s just so simple yet very tasty! All you need are these ingredients that I’m pretty sure already have! Enjoy the delicious flavors of this one-of-a-kind Tuna Melt!
Ingredients:
softened butter
5 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp parsley, chopped
½ c mozzarella, shredded
20 oz tuna in water or oil, drained (four 5-oz. cans)
½ celery stalk, chopped (about ¼ c)
salt and pepper, to taste
1 clove garlic, minced (or ½ tsp ready minced garlic)
1 medium onion, chopped (about ½ c)
12 slices bread
3 tbsp olive oil, divided
Directions:
1. Drain the tuna to remove the water or oil, then add it to a mixing bowl. Use a fork to gently break it.
2. Add the celery, garlic, parsley, onion, mayonnaise, 2 tbsp olive oil, and mozzarella cheese into the bowl with the tuna flakes. Stir everything until well blended. Sprinkle salt and pepper to season.
3. Place a non-stick skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
4. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil and allow it to become hot.
5. Brush one side of a bread slice with butter.
6. Add the buttered bread to the hot skillet, then top it with 3 tbsp of the tuna filling.
7. Place another bread slice over the tuna filling to make a sandwich. Cook both sides of the bread for a few minutes until toasted.
8. Transfer the sandwich onto a paper-lined plate to remove excess butter.
9. Serve right away with any pasta dish. Enjoy!
Notes:
Add the butter directly into the skillet and allow it to melt completely before adding the bread.
You must remove excess grease by placing it onto a plate with paper towels.
